FLYNN

“I’m doing everything I can to make it,” I say to my buddy on the phone, glancing at the closed bathroom door. Ellie’s taking a shower, and though she did invite me to join her, I owed my buddy a call about his Christmas Eve party, the day after tomorrow. What I plan to do to Ellie will have to wait until she’s naked in the bed with me.

“The storm’s cleared,” Jake argues. “What are you doing in hotel room?”

“I’m tired.” It’s a lie, but I’m not about to admit I stopped this time to help Ellie make all her naughty list fantasies come true. Not after Jake let me stay on his secluded ranch in Wyoming for a few weeks to clear my head. I almost refused his offer, but had I done that, I would never have met Ellie.

“Well, rest the fuck up and get on the road as early as you can. I want you here for rehearsals.”

“I thought this was a small thing.”

“It’s gotten a little bigger. Sold some extra tickets to help offset the costs. You know how it goes.”

I scrub a hand through my hair, silently muttering fuck. If my ex shows up, I’m going to kill Jake. It would be just like Sharla to pull something like this, too. Now that my name has been advertised. “But no paparazzi, right?”

“Flynn, it’s time for you to get your face back out there. People are starting to talk.”

“Fuck, you sound like my manager.”

The bathroom door pops open and Ellie stands in the doorway with wet hair dripping onto her exposed collarbone. She’s wearing nothing but a towel.

“Rehearsal starts tomorrow at one.”

We still have four hundred miles to go. If Ellie didn’t need to get back for her family and that wedding, I’d make sure it took us an extra day to make the trip. “Gotta go.” I end the call and set the phone face down on the nightstand.

No more interruptions tonight.

“Who was that?” Ellie asks.

“Just my buddy.” I strut across the hotel room and stop in front of Ellie, leaning my hand on the doorjamb. One quick yank of that towel and it’d end up pooled on the floor at her ankles. “I’m sorry I missed out on the shower, sweetheart.”

“I waited until the hot water ran out.” She unfolds her arms, gripping her towel. Though heat dances in her gaze, so does a shred on insecurity. She has curves for days. More than most of the girls that fawn for my attention. But what Ellie doesn’t realize is that I love a woman with real curves.

“Are you sure about this, Ellie?”

She bites down on her bottom lip, flickering her gaze up to mine. “Yes.”

I yank the towel free, unapologetically raking her body with my greedy eyes. “Fuck, Ellie. Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?”

“Not without my clothes on,” she mutters.

“Selfishly, I’m glad of that,” I growl. “I have to warn you, I’m the jealous type. I don’t like to share what’s mine.
